For Patients

What is StrivePD?

StrivePD is a trusted iOS app and disease management tool for Parkinson’s care for both patients and clinical care teams. Paired with the Apple Watch (FDA cleared) and Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) devices (if applicable), patients are able to track and share their summarized disease experience (e.g. symptoms, medications, activity) with care teams outside the clinic.

Currently, StrivePD is available and supported in the United States only.

How will I benefit from using StrivePD?

StrivePD allows you to understand your disease on a deeper level. You can monitor your symptoms, set medication reminders, and even share your progress with your care team using the app. Providing your neurologist with direct access to daily logs of your symptoms and medication adherence allows them to make appropriate adjustments to your care, and help you improve your well-being.

With your consent, we may share your de-identified brain data with partners that may be able to use the data to identify biomarkers of disease progression, and aid in developing more effective treatments for Parkinson’s and other neurological disorders.

If you would like to learn more about it, don’t hesitate to contact us at support@strive.group.

Does StrivePD cost any money to download?

The StrivePD app is available on the Apple App Store for free. There is no subscription required.

I'm an Android user - can I download StrivePD?

Currently, the StrivePD app is only available for Apple iOS users.

Am I required to share my reports or insights with my neurologist?

No - StrivePD enables users to manually log symptoms, track what makes you feel better or worse, set medication reminders, and gain insights about your health from patterns in your day-to-day activities. If you would like to share your insights and reports with your care team to better manage your care, add your name to the registration page here to join the StrivePD Program.

What is the StrivePD Program registration?

If you are interested in connecting with your neurologist and/or want to use the Apple Watch to help track your Parkinson’s symptoms, you may be eligible for participation in our StrivePD Program. Fill out your contact information, indicate whether you are a patient or caregiver, and which hospitals or medical centers you visit. Once we receive a response, our patient specialists will contact you within 2 weeks. As a reminder, your information will be confidential.

Where is my data going?

At StrivePD, data privacy and confidentiality is incredibly important to our team. We believe in transparency and trust. We do not rent, sell, or share your data without your consent or authorization, and do not share your personal data with third parties for direct marketing purposes. In order to improve StrivePD and help develop and deliver better therapies for Parkinson’s disease (and other neurological disorders), we may share your de-identified data with partners, affiliates, and service providers. For more information, please view our Privacy Notice here.

Do I need an Apple Watch to download StrivePD?

All individuals, specifically those who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease or other neurological disorders, are eligible to download the StrivePD app. If you currently do not own an Apple Watch, eligible individuals will be provided with one. The Apple Watch will capture and record symptoms of tremor and dyskinesia (FDA-cleared), and will integrate that data with the StrivePD app. If interested, add your name to the StrivePD Program registration here.

How long do I have to wear the Apple Watch?

We recommend wearing the Apple Watch as long as possible. The watch collects information on sleep, steps/mobility, activity vitals, and symptoms like dyskinesia and tremor, gait, and fall detection, which can be critical in understanding your disease progression. StrivePD is FDA-cleared on the Apple Watch to use Apple’s Movement Disorder API to passively collect daily resting tremor and dyskinesia. Please note the watch is waterproof and can be worn when sleeping. In case you use your Apple Watch as a medication reminder, we suggest charging your watch at the same time each day. Overall, the watch’s battery should last 18 hours after a full overnight charge.

I am a Parkinson’s Disease caregiver - can I download the app?

We encourage caregivers to use StrivePD. Caregivers have enjoyed using the app both to track medication and symptoms, and to keep detailed notes about their loved ones’ condition, since before its official launch. They’re still using it!

For Movement Disorder Specialists

How will my patients benefit from using the StrivePD app?

StrivePD helps streamline the communication between patients and their care team. It reduces the burden on patients to remember all the details of their on and off phases with Parkinson’s. It also allows patients to understand their disease management by empowering them to monitor their symptoms, set medication reminders and share progress with their neurologist or movement disorder specialist. Data from outside clinical visits can add an extra dimension of understanding for clinicians, allowing them to provide better guidance and treatment options for patients.

How will I benefit from using StrivePD's clinician dashboard?

Currently, movement disorder specialists do not have access to high quality data on patients’ symptoms and brain activity. Specialists will be able to see their patients’ lifestyle, symptoms, and brain activity via the StrivePD clinician dashboard outside the clinic. The dashboard automatically synthesizes data from the app, Apple Watch, and DBS devices allowing specialists to provide more precise treatment options and guidance for their patients, at the right time.

What type of data will I be able to see on the dashboard?

The clinician dashboard allows you to view a summary of Medtronic’s Percept brain signals (including beta activity), daily patterns of tremor and dyskinesia, sleep patterns and other Apple Health data (mobility, gait, falls), symptoms, side effects, and medication adherence.

How does it impact my workflow / will I receive any notifications?

The dashboard is a low burden, web-based browser meant to be accessed and examined during patient visits – your very own decision support tool. Specialists do not receive notifications, but are able to see a full summary of their patients’ symptoms since their last in-person visit. This summarized information is critical to tailoring and optimizing an individual’s care, whether it is through suggesting changes in medication schedule or adjusting DBS settings.
